Late Nights and Lullabies 2

Summer 2023 Edition.

Welcome to the second edition of LNL. Some of the parents I see frequently at the pediatric clinic gave me good feedback and enjoyed the first edition.

With this being the last week of summer, I wanted to share some of my favourite berceuses that I’ve been jamming to with my boys—farewell summer nights.

Song: Eternal Light – Free Nationals & Chronixx

Bedtime routines are sacred. But, when you’re in the trenches, handling a toddler and an infant, you sometimes rush. The days are long, and you’re almost at the finish line. Burnt out, tired, restless, waiting for the kids to get to sleep. On those nights, this would be my tune of choice.

Ain’t nothing wrong with melodies that touch your soul
They acting like the people don’t need it no more
Still when she hear that good music, she hold me closer
She grooving, now I know she feeling it for sure
She move to me and rest her head upon my shoulder
Soothingly, she tells me fi turn up the sound
Have you ever, have you ever been in love?
No bad vibes can’t stop this good vibration, yeah
Ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah
That’s the positive vibes that we creating, yeah
Sounds that make you feel right

A reminder to slow down and feel the fire inside. The one that keeps us going, when things are tough. A kindle of hope and spark of life, our children ignite within us.

We keep it blazin’, yeah
Forever shining this light

Never fails to help me reset and remind myself that these are the golden moments.

This jam is the epitome of summer days. The sun is out, no worries, just good vibes and good times.

Favourite verse

Everything we’re given is enough
Moments fit together like a glove
All my questions answered by this, love

Song: Dancing in the Moonlight – Toploader

It was a great summer for all of us stargazers and astronomy nerds. July saw the Buck Moon and at the end of August, we were treated with a Blue Moon.

Raising kids is tough. It’s easy to get lost in rumination and worry. A simple remedy; look up. Find the stars or the moon, and take them in for a moment. It’s a good anchor and way to keep things in perspective.

Thanks for reading.

Keep on singing and keep on giving.
